The Pistons (4th worst team in the League at 17-32) can say, if nothing else, that they can beat the Nets (worst team in the league at 4-46…on track to obtain the worst record in the history of the NBA). It’s sad that even tonight’s win did not come easily. Whatever…we will take what we can get. Oh what has happened to my team…?
Meanwhile, Chauncey Billups went CRAZY on the road against the Lakers last night, once again proving that his career is far from over. He finished with a career high regular season 39 points (including 9 three-pointers). I love seeing him succeed…even if it is thousands of miles away wearing different colors.
Can’t wait to see him in the All Star game (and 3 point competition) next weekend!CB4Life. [great move trading him again, Joe Dumars. that turned out to be a really wise decision. *cringe* *tear*]
When your team is up over twenty points on the road, it is both unnecessary and unprofessional to hit a twenty-footer, smile, and freeze in the follow-through…COCKY.
Can’t even blame him. NO team will win a game when the rebound disparity is 52-25. That means you, Pistons.
And way to go, Pistons! You have a 15-30 record…and are slowly chipping away at my soul.
I hope to dream of Chauncey Billups and game-winners and holding OPPONENTS under 70 points…oh, the good ol’ days.
The Pistons have lost their 13th consecutive game, matching their longest skid since they lost 13-in-a-row in 1994.The Five Stages of Grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.
I laughed during the Pistons’ entire pounding by the Bulls tonight. Does this mean I’ve reached acceptance?
I’m so bitter. I miss 2004, Chauncey and the Championship. Heck, right now…I just miss the feeling of winning. Being a huge sports fan can be very emotionally traumatic sometimes.
Don’t you hate when coaches get blamed when a team is performing below expectations? It isn’t necessarily their fault…
Byron Scott was fired today as the coach of the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets after a disappointing 3-6 start to the season. Apparently everyone has already forgotten what he did with the New Jersey Nets franchise several years ago, taking them from the bottom of the Eastern Conference to two finals appearances. Or maybe everyone has forgotten that less than 2 years ago he was named the NBA’s Coach Of The Year with a 56-26 record.
They are only 9 games into the 2009-2010 season. Is it necessary to hit the panic button already? Is Byron really the problem? You can’t fire the players…so the coaches are the ones to receive the pink slip when things are going even slightly awry. It just isn’t right.
Dear Joel Glass (Director of Orlando Magic Public Relations):
Remarking to front row Pistons fans that “everytime you come to Detroit you understand why Ron Artest jumped into the stands and attacked us” is neither appropriate nor professional. Furthermore, pissing off a chick who has severe NBA & Palace connections is not a wise career choice. Next time, think before you speak. After all, you are in public relations.
Love always,
Stephie
On another note, it was nice to see the Pistons bounce back from two horrifying losses against the Thunder and Bucks and get a solid win against an incredibly talented Orlando Magic squad. Despite the fact that Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince both sat out with injuries (thus snapping Tay’s impressive streak of 439 consecutive starts), the Pistons got 20+ points each from Ben Gordon, Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum. The defense was solid in the front court, but I’m worried that we lack a big man who can score. Obviously, Ben Wallace is an asset because of his defensive skills (he locked f”Superman” Dwight Howard DOWN last night), but we obviously miss the presence of an offensive threat à la Rasheed Wallace, who is performing quite nicely (20 points last night) with the still undefeated Boston Celtics. A lot of trade rumors are swirling…we shall see what is to come.
Staring at JJ Redick from the front row all night was just the icing on the cake for me. Next. Level. Hotness. (Sorry…I have weaknesses!)
Check out the guest article I wrote on my second favorite Non-Piston [you already know…Chauncey Billups will forever be #1], Ricky Davis, for the awesome basketball blog: The No Look Pass !
Pistons Home Opener tonight! Undefeated so far…and our guards are looking on POINT! Ben Gordon and Rip Hamilton were on fire in the season opener: fluid shots, confidence, chemistry…let’s keep it up!
In honor of the beginning of another NBA season, my friend Julie and I carved Pistons Pumpkins! Say hello to Rodney Stuckey and Richard “Rip” Hamilton! GO PISTONS! Let’s come back strong this year!
And what am I being for Halloween? An angel O:-) I will post pictures after this weekend! Happy Halloween!
Tonight was the Pistons first preseason game of the 2009 season! It felt so wonderful to sit in MY…yes, MY…seat at the Palace and watch our new team go to work. I think pre-season games are particularly entertaining for true NBA fans. It is fun to see the new players and analyze the different line-ups and strategies the coaches are testing.
Surprisingly, the Pistons didn’t look half bad? Rookie Austin Daye had some quality defensive plays, including a tremendous block on a Dwyane Wade breakaway. Back-up guard Will Bynum showed energy and an improved shot-selection. Rip and Ben Gordon, despite lackluster shooting nights, seemed to mesh well…already foreshadowing an improvement from what was the AI/Stuckey/Rip disaster. However, a backcourt of absolutely zero offense (except put-back dunks) of Ben Wallace and Kwame Brown needs to be resolved immediately.
Still…how much can you really predict from a preseason game? Charlie Villanueva didn’t play with a sore hamstring. Starters get far less minutes. Turnovers are out of control. Despite all of this (and the fact that they don’t actually count), I find them fun! No pressure…just analysis and predictions about the season.
On another note, these replacement referees are killing me. It felt as if there were a whistle blown every single possession. STOP. GO. STOP. GO. This is not rush hour traffic!
Oh basketball…it is soooo good to have you back again.
