Moreover, I picked the winning horse at the Kentucky Derby!  Don’t be too impressed, I pick solely based on how creative and cool the horses’ names are.  ”I’ll Have Another” just screamed my style…even though I was slightly disappointed to learn after that the names stands for the quote “I’ll Have another cookie” instead of “I’ll have another drink.”  Good name, nonetheless.

I Swept the Pop Genre! http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=252 http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=252#comments Thu, 03 May 2012 18:52:00 +0000 admin http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=252 This past weekend, I attended the Indie Music Channel Awards in Hollywood, California.  This event honors independent artists from around the country and world.  Winners are chosen based on their success on the ReverbNation Indie Music Countdown, fan voting, and the opinions of industry experts on the nominees’  talent and impact as up-and-coming independent artists.

As I stated in an earlier post, I received 5 nomination in this prestigious award show — Female Pop Artist of the Year, 2 nominations for Best Pop Song and 2 nominations for Best Pop Record.  And…[drumroll please]…

I won all three categories! I swept the pop genre!  CUE THE CONFETTI!

I walked away with the award for Best Female Pop Artist, Best Pop Song (Breakin’ Up) and Best Pop Record (Ice Cream). I appeared on stage three times in a row to give my acceptance speeches and my arms were killing me from carrying those heavy trophies around all night…but I’m NOT complaining! I was so very honored and humbled to be chosen out of thousands of artists to receive these awards.  The hard work is paying off!  Thanks again to everyone who supports me and my music.  It’s an amazing feeling to win these awards from such a prestigious and influential organization.

My songs “Ice Cream” and “Breakin’ Up”  both held coveted top spots on the countdown for many weeks, all based upon fan voting across the country.  I just found out that I have been nominated for FIVE Indie Music Channel Awards, including Female Pop Artist of the Year, and two song nominations for Pop Song of the Year and Pop Record of the Year. The awards show is on April 29!  Wish me luck!

]]> http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?feed=rss2&p=250 The #OneMinuteSong Project Playlist…Parts I & II http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=249 http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=249#comments Mon, 19 Mar 2012 16:17:23 +0000 admin http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=249 When I started the #OneMinuteSong Project on September 1, 2011, my goal was to do something unprecedented, interesting and exciting.  From the research I had done, no one had EVER BEFORE set out to record a different a cappella song EVERYDAY, with original and unique lyrics and melodies, based on fan-suggested song topics. 201 days later, I’m still having fun with it.  Through this project, I am able to write about a variety or weird, funny, intriguing and crazy topics.  I hope it has helped to show my range as a writer and my creativity.  And, of course, I would be pleased to know that it has helped all of you see just how quirky my personality is.

I guess YouTube didn’t think they’d ever need their “Playlist” feature to hold more than 200 songs per user.  Well, YouTube web designers, you are sorely mistaken.  Maybe MOST avid YouTubers don’t need more than 200 songs to fit in a single playlist.  But I do.  The #OneMinuteSong Project has been going on for 201 DAYS STRAIGHT.  Today, I learned that I must break up the playlist into parts:  Part I will consist of songs 1-200 of the #OneMinuteSong Project;  Part II will consist of songs 201 and beyond.  So there you have it.  The #OneMinuteSong Project lives on.  Just think of it as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy or the Harry Potter series…those movies HAD to be split up into parts or people would never get through them…despite their amazingness! ;)

]]> http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?feed=rss2&p=247 Gimme Gimme More [Awards] http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=246 http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=246#comments Fri, 09 Mar 2012 16:49:30 +0000 admin http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=246 This week, I found out that my song “Story of a Broken Heart” is a semi-finalist in the VERY prestigious International Songwriting Competition!  ISC is one of the most competitive songwriting competitions in the world.  Judges include Kelly Clarkson, Ozzy Osbourne, Tori Amos, Tom Waits, Jeff Beck, Janelle Monae, other platinum/Grammy-winning artists and several major label presidents.  I’m very humbled and pleased to be considered among the best songwriters in the world by this esteemed panel of judges.

Awards like this give me even more motivation to continue to create fun, unique, emotional and exciting music.  This is only the beginning.

]]> http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?feed=rss2&p=246 Triple-Double Threat http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=245 http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=245#comments Sat, 25 Feb 2012 18:06:06 +0000 admin http://www.stephaniekmusic.com/?p=245 The sky is blue.  The grass is green.  Stephanie K knows her sports.  It’s just common knowledge.  It’s an accepted fact of life.  I enjoy watching sports.  I enjoy discussing sports.  I enjoy going to bars and schooling guys who think I’m just another pretty face in ripped jeans and stilettos.  Basketball is, of course, my favorite.  But don’t be fooled; I know a lot about ALL sports.  Every morning, when I’m chowing down on my Special K with skim milk, I’m in front of the television, catching up on the sports world.  Watching the morning rundown of last night’s sporting events is not a luxury…it is a NECESSITY.

Fox Sports Detroit is doing a search for their new “Fox Sports Detroit Girl” with their “April in the D” contest.  Applicants submit a video, explaining why they should be considered.  Naturally, I had to participate.

The world loves a true underdog story…I’m no exception.  Check out the feature in the New York Post!  And please enjoy the LINSANITY below:
