Unfair.
Don’t you hate when coaches get blamed when a team is performing below expectations? It isn’t necessarily their fault…
Byron Scott was fired today as the coach of the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets after a disappointing 3-6 start to the season. Apparently everyone has already forgotten what he did with the New Jersey Nets franchise several years ago, taking them from the bottom of the Eastern Conference to two finals appearances. Or maybe everyone has forgotten that less than 2 years ago he was named the NBA’s Coach Of The Year with a 56-26 record.
They are only 9 games into the 2009-2010 season. Is it necessary to hit the panic button already? Is Byron really the problem? You can’t fire the players…so the coaches are the ones to receive the pink slip when things are going even slightly awry. It just isn’t right.
